Ottawa bylaw services are cautioning residents to be alert, following reports of coyote sightings in urban Ottawa areas.

“Given the deep snow, reports of coyotes in urban areas have increased, as their normal food sources are difficult for them to access,” bylaw services said in a release Friday.

“Please do NOT approach, try to feed a coyote, or leave household garbage uncontained,” the message said.

Residents are asked to dial 911 if the “animal is aggressive towards people.”
