Last season, Armstead began the year with the Ottawa Redblacks before being cut midway through the season. Days later, he subsequently signed with the Roughriders, who were missing starter A.J. Ouellette due to injury.
And Armstead made the most of his opportunity as he rushed for 207 yards on 25 carries in his debut in green and white, which is the fourth highest single-game total in Roughrider history.
However, the following week, Armstead was injured and was forced to miss the final three games of the regular season with Ouellette returning from injury.
Armstead suited up for both playoff games but was used sparingly, with seven carries for 29 yards.
