Soap legend says cancer diagnosis left him in cruel and brutal place

Soap legend Ian Smith has said his terminal cancer diagnosis put him in a “cruel, ugly, brutal place”.

The actor, who played Harold Bishop in Australian soap Neighbours, revealed he has a rare form of lung cancer called pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma, last year.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Friday (18 April), Smith gave an update on his diagnosis.

He said: “It’s a cruel, ugly, brutal place… and I don’t know how, but it looks like I’m having the best luck in the world with defeating this cancer.”
