President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened a 200% tariff on European wine, Champagne and spirits if the European Union goes forward with a planned tariff on American whiskey. FRANCE 24’s Yinka Oyetade speaks to Dr Ignacio Sánchez Recarte, Secretary General of EU wine industry lobbying group CEEV. He says that if tariffs go through, EU winemakers may have to shoulder a €5 billion immediate hit, as the US market counts for 27% of EU wine exports.
